Public or distributed

Distributed leader selection

A network chooses who proposes or coordinates the next step without one party deciding alone.

Evaluation card

What “plenty” means here.

Required property
Unbiasable or bias-resistant shared randomness, verifiable eligibility, and resistance to grinding.
If it fails
A participant tries many candidate inputs, withholds contributions, or predicts future leaders.
Relevant attacker
Strategic participants controlling stake, nodes, message timing, or some randomness contributors.
The Plenty Line
Use the protocol’s reviewed beacon or verifiable-random-function construction and account for adaptive corruption.
Why more is not automatically better
More bits do not fix economic concentration, network capture, or a grinding opportunity.

Where it appears

Recognize the pattern.

  • 02block proposers

The Plentropy rule

Protect the requirement, then stop.

Use the protocol’s reviewed beacon or verifiable-random-function construction and account for adaptive corruption.
Once that claim has comfortable evidence and margin, improve the next limiting factor instead of worshipping a larger entropy number.
